how should i pack

We have the Amy clause. This is Amy ->

Amy brought so much stuff that I made a clause for all future RPTE attendants in her name :)

Here's the rule. If you bring it, you carry it. There will be guys on this trip and they'll likely be nice guys who will feel obligated to carry your things if you look like you're struggling. So everyone needs to be responsible for carrying their own things.

This also helps as when we're changing trains, we don't have people yelling out "did you grab my bag?!" as the train is about to take off. Everyone keeps their own things so that when we're changing transports, we all know that WE have our own stuff.

You must be able to lift your belongings over your head easily. Again, when we are getting on and off trains, we need to be able to do these things ourselves. Everything will flow much easier this way.

You must be able to talk your belongings easily in ONE trip. So if we are going from the hotel to the van, you shouldn't have to make two trips to get it.

We can bring ONE backpack and ONE carry on type piece of luggage. I'm not going to give measurements on either -- but please don't bring a bohemeth of a bag. One item might have to fit on your lap and the other at your feet for some of our transport. It's important that we don't have 14 people show up with large amounts of luggage as it will force us to separate when using vans to transport. That's not as fun.

Lastly, make your backpack be where you put your fragile items (camera gear). That way we can put our backpacks on our laps and our small piece of luggage in the trunk, if we need to.
