Not at all! You can own a point and shoot, for all we care! There is NO ego on these trips. You don't need to be a working pro, or even interested in working as a pro someday. A love for travel and a desire to see the world with like-minded people is all that's required here.

Just make sure you have SOME sort of camera as you'll definitely want to have personal photos when it's all said and done :)
